It took a foundry to make them and that was an expensive proposition.Īccutron solid gold watch cases were primarily made by S&W (Schwab & Wuischpard) and by The Star Watch Case Company and they are easily identified by markings on the inside of the case back. Bulova made watch cases on both continents but farmed out the solid gold cases for economic reasons. One word comes to mind ignoranteĬlick to expand. In the grand scheme of things, solid gold watch cases were a small part of total production. What are the odd that I had the same watch that he based his mine upon. WOW ha ha Just look at my photos VS the watch link he gave for $3800 Note serial #'s less then 100 between the two, watches made by same hands, on the same table. So his mind was clear on paying $3500.00 as a investment. So he makes up his mind off the watch for $3895.00 on ebay witch was offered to him for $2000.00. Offered the man a watch that he wanted to buy FOR A GOLD INVESTMENT at half of the price for the same i say SAME watch he seen on ebay. It would be my hope for him that the details of the gold content were hand writen to a receipt. This is a good site alot of minds, differant watches some things take time but thats part of the fun of being a collector or novist. Sometime I think it would be helpful to get WGT's and most common cases and bands 10k to 18k and fill for a ref.Gold is priced so high now. For that kind of money I would have put a deposit down and took the watch to another soure to verify that it held true on its representation. The one he is showing for $3895.00 is what I have now less than 100 apart in the serial number. WOW, I hope I didnt have any input on that buy! A $6000.00 watch for $3500.00 alot of sweet talk there. Vintage Mens Bulova Accutron with Day Date 18K Yellow Gold Mesh Band Collectible $3,895 Now my watch if off to New York city (for maintenance, cleaning, new battery etc) to one of the well known Bulova watchmakers in the US, Ernie Goldman.ġ4K Solid Yellow Gold Case/Strap Bulova Accutron Watch $3,397 You guys are the best! I have learned a LOT in the past 24hrs. ![]() I just didn't know anything about the watch, hence the reason I came here. So now I am a proud owner of a 1967 Bulova Accutron model 218D.Īs I said earlier, I have known this jeweler for many years and don't believe that he was misleading me. Which btw, is what helped influence my final decision to buy this watch to stock up on my Gold investment. I also checked eBay and saw another 218 w/ 18K Gold bracelet listed for about $3,800. So the Gold content for the watch alone is about $6,300 scrap he says. He tells me that for scrap, it would be $70 per gram, but as part of jewelry/watch, I would be looking at about $80 per gram. It came out at around 90 grams (he quoted it in pennyweight btw). He took the watch apart (the watch guy there has worked with Bulovas for almost thirty years apparently - go figure) and weighed the gold content (case + strap). ![]() I went back to the store and expressed my concerns. Just enough gold hue to keep the color at a match, none the less its a nice looking band and dont over power the look of the case. Anything slightly above or belowħ50 or 0.750 would not have to have a proof hallmark other than the 760 noted. If it were me I would place a retail value at around $1400 to $1800. The bracelet shown in the photo would destory itself. On a soild gold bracelet the links would be more spread apart. The 760 I beleave refers to the gold content of the plate over SS. Another thing I found out about my watch is I had to repair the calender hair spring in my watch and on doing so the spacer between the dial and the movement was soild gold also not a off metal or brass very shiney gold about 1/2 mm thick.Īs far as Techm8's bracelet I would have to say the band is not soild 18k. Sam I going to refer back to my notes on the maker. So soon Im selling mine for 2 for a fast sale. Im thinking that price would be the gold content, it may be still on line the serial #'s are less than 100 apart from mine. As far as $3500.00 from what I have seen so far its the going rate there is a 18k gold Accutron watch just like mine on ebay with a buy it now for $3800.00 the only differance is the band they have is a marrage. It very well may be worth more than you think. I dont know who you bought it from but I am willing to guess that the person who sold it sold it to you with just the gold content in mind. Sky I think you got a very good deal on your Astronant, for what I have been learning so far in my mind with what you got for the price is great you have gold content and a very collectable model to boot you win both ways with your watch if gold prices go down you still have an Astronant. ![]() Strong adhesive base isn’t suitable for use on delicate surfaces, like wallpapered or painted walls.Nonresidue adhesive formula leaves no sticky residue behind once removed.Waterproof, weatherproof, and multipurpose solvent-resistant can handle high temperature. ![]() Suitable for a variety of surfaces, including glass, metal, plastic, ceramic, wood, and marble.Length: 10 feet long by 0.75 inches wide.It has a cold/heat resistance of -4 to 160 degrees Fahrenheit and is resistant to moisture and solvents, making it useful outdoors as well as inside the home. ![]() ![]() I haven't had the "spine chilling" moments like I got with my old C64 game but that could be because I played it 15 years ago but I would say if you are into sub games this is showing what a hyped up pc system can do. If John talked alone in the woods, would his logic be sound? Hmmm…anyways, the mouth is a bit thin, as if the custard in the afore-mentioned crème brûlée was made with only egg whites, not egg yolks. I’m reminded of the famous zen koan, “Fruit flies like a banana, fruit fish like a moray’s malaise.” There are lots of sapid bourbon notes: Vanilla, caramel, and thin wisps of cinnamon. The mouth is a month’s worth of sweet round mounds of “Zounds!” exclaimed by Ezra Pound. The rye, normally so frisky, is blunted and refined by the French Oak, much like a sabre melted down into an abundance of iPad styli. The nose, were it a river, would be a deeply-flowing river, whose still waters ran shallow, contra the venerable Latin adage. An enterprising pâtissier produced an inverse crème brûlée recipe with a thin crème bottom with layers of singed iris petals, sepals, and anthers on top. The cream is clotted cream made from milk from a cow that was fed only pine cones, sage, bay leaves, and Leucanthemum vulgare, aka ox-eye daisies. In Olav Jakobsen Høyem's version of Nynorsk based on Trøndersk, ⟨ð⟩ was always silent, and was introduced for etymological reasons. In the Faroese alphabet, ⟨ð⟩ follows ⟨d⟩. When ⟨ð⟩ appears before ⟨r⟩, it is in a few words pronounced. In Faroese, ⟨ð⟩ is not assigned to any particular phoneme and appears mostly for etymological reasons, but it indicates most glides. In the Icelandic alphabet, ⟨ð⟩ follows ⟨d⟩. The ⟨ð⟩ in the name of the letter is devoiced in the nominative and accusative cases. Generally, /θ/ is represented by thorn ⟨Þ⟩ at the beginning of words and by ⟨ð⟩ elsewhere. In Icelandic, ⟨ð⟩, called "eð", represents an alveolar non-sibilant fricative, voiced intervocalically and word-finally, and voiceless otherwise, which form one phoneme, /θ/. Icelandic A sample of Icelandic handwriting with some instances of lowercase ð clearly visible: in the words Borðum, við and niður. ⟨Þ⟩ completely overtook ⟨ð⟩ by Middle English, and ⟨þ⟩ died out by Early Modern English, mostly due to the rise of the printing press, and was replaced by the digraph th. Under King Alfred the Great, ⟨þ⟩ grew greatly in popularity and started to overtake ⟨ð⟩. Another source indicates that the letter is "derived from Irish writing". A study of Mercian royal diplomas found that ⟨ð⟩ (along with ⟨ đ⟩) began to emerge in the early 8th century, with ⟨ð⟩ becoming strongly preferred by the 780s. Neither ⟨ð⟩ nor ⟨þ⟩ was found in the earliest records of Old English. Unlike the runic letter ⟨ þ⟩, ⟨ð⟩ is a modified Roman letter. In Old English, ⟨ð⟩ (called ðæt) was used interchangeably with ⟨ þ⟩ to represent the Old English dental fricative phoneme / θ/ or its allophone / ð/, which exist in modern English phonology as the voiced and voiceless dental fricatives both now spelled ⟨ th⟩. The lowercase version has been adopted to represent a voiced dental fricative in the International Phonetic Alphabet.
